5 Minutes with Celia

Tell us about your background…

Since completing my degree I’ve worked at independent optometry practices in Wellington and Australia. In terms of specialties, I’m a therapeutically endorsed optometrist so I’m trained to deal with eye infections and inflammation in addition to general optometry.

What brought you back to Tauranga?

I spent my childhood in Ohope, so I’d always planned to move back to the Bay of Plenty at some stage. I was thrilled when the role at Langford Callard came up in May last year and I knew it was the perfect opportunity for me.

What are your interests outside of work?

At the moment I’m into business house tennis and indoor soccer, and I used to be keen on surf life saving – I’d like to get back to that at some stage (provided I can keep on top of my new responsibilities!).

What else does the future hold for you?

I’m super excited about getting settled into my new role and broadening my patient base here in Tauranga. I’m also keen to undertake another volunteer eye- camp at some stage. In 2010 I spent some time volunteering at an eye-camp in Tanzania which was terrific, so I’d love the opportunity to do something similar in the future.

The team at Langford Callard congratulate Celia on her new appointment, and we look forward to her input into the future direction of the practice.
